Additional information: The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Top Loader Washing Machines are subject to this recall:

  • Samsung Top Loader Washing Machines, manufactured in 2010, 2011, 2012 and some models in 2013 under model numbers SW75V9WIP, SW65V9WIP, SW70SPWIP, SW80SPWIP, WA85GWGIP and WA85GWWIP

Please consult the photograph above for details of the Washing Machine’s serial and model number placement. An additional variation of similar material is pictured on the Web site above.

According to the ACCC, in some circumstances, moisture may penetrate the electrical connectors of the machines. If this occurs, the machines pose a fire hazard to consumers.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Washing Machines, Samsung recommends that as a precautionary measure, you only use your Washing Machines if you are present or nearby to monitor it. If you notice any smoke or smell coming from the Washing Machines, turn off the machine at the power point.

We, however, recommend not using the Washing Machine until it is fully checked and certified by a Samsung representative for safety. In the meantime, kindly remove the power plug from the mains to prevent someone else inadvertently using the unit.

If you have any questions about this recall, please visit the company’s Web site at http://www.samsung.com.au, call 1800 239 655 between 8 AM to 8 PM AEST, Monday to Sunday or e-mail the company at wm.samsung@samsung.com.
