The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Shredded Coconut is subject to this recall:

  • Coconut-Medium Shred, sold in 25 pound bags per sack with a total of 726 sacks, lot codes of DCM-101 and DCM-102, an item code of 001120 and a UPC of 086700011201

According to the FDA, the product may contain very small stainless steel wire, the kind and type used in the screening process during manufacturing.

If plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Shredded Coconut, please do not consume it. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
