Additional information:
The UK Chartered Trading Standards Institute (“CTSI”) reports the following Bicycle Components are subject to this recall:

  • Trek Bicycle Front Quick-Release Mechanism for some Trek Bicycles

Please consult the diagram above for details of the Front Quick-Release Mechanism’s design and retail presentation.

According to the CTSI, some Trek Bicycles were sold equipped with Disc Brakes and a Front Quick-Release Lever that opens past 180° (Figure 1 at left). If the Quick Release is improperly adjusted or left open on a Bicycle which also has a Front Disc Brake, the Quick-Release Lever can become caught in the Front Disc Brake assembly (Figure 2 at right). If this happens, the front wheel could separate or come to a sudden stop and the rider could lose control of the Bicycle.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession a recalled Trek Bicycle with the identified Front Quick-Release Mechanism, please do not use it. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a no-charge repair and/or component replacement.

If you have any questions about this recall, please contact Trek Bicycle Corp. at Sherbourne Drive, Tilbrook, Milton Keynes MK7 8HX. You can also ring them on its UK Recall hotline at 01908 360 160.
