The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following vehicles are subject to this recall:

  • Nissan J10 Dualis and J10 Dualis+2 built between February 2012 and September 2012, campaign number: PG5B2; VIN Range: SJN*B*J10A1196857 to SJN*B*J10A7145388

According to the ACCC, the steering wheel boss, which is connected to the steering column, may not have the appropriate strength. If a load is applied to the steering wheel which is higher than the load applied during normal steering operation, the boss may separate from the steering column. If the defect occurs, it may result in loss of vehicle steering control, posing a crash and injury hazard.

Owners of vehicles within the affected VIN range will be advised to contact their Nissan Dealer to arrange for an inspection of the steering wheel batch number and where necessary replacement of the steering wheel. The rectification will be at no cost to owners.
