US/Silver Spring: Korean Food Mak Kimchi Recall [US]Korean Food Co. recalls some Mak Kimchi due to undeclared shellfish, specifically shrimp, a known allergen and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal, situation requiring immediate medical intervention. Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Kimchi is subject to this recall:

  • Mak Kimchi, sold in 32-ounce glass jars with a UPC of 4205313810
  • Mak Kimchi, sold in half-gallon glass jars with a UPC of 4205313730

Both food products were distributed in retail stores in Plano, TX; Carrollton, TX; Dallas, TX and Lawton, OK.

According to the FDA, the recall was initiated after it was discovered that the product label was misprinted and the Kimchi containing shellfish (i.e., shrimp) was distributed in glass jars that did not reveal the presence of shellfish (i.e., shrimp).

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Kimchi and could be allergic to its shellfish ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume it. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
