US/Washington: Garcia Foods Pork Chorizo Recall [US]Garcia Foods recalls approximately 190,450 pounds of Pork Chorizo Products due to undeclared peanuts, a known allergen. USDA:

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Pork Chorizo Products are subject to this recall:

  • Hill Country Fare Chorizo, raw pork sausage link pieces, sold in 12-ounce vacuum-packed containers
  • Hill Country Fare Chorizo raw pork sausage chubs, sold in 8-ounce vacuum-packed containers

Both Pork Chorizo Products bear the establishment number “EST. 13205A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These Chorizo Products were shipped to retail locations in Texas.

According to the USDA, the problem was discovered when the US Food and Drug Administration released a recall for “Adams Flavors, Foods & Ingredients Issues Allergy Alert On Undeclared Peanut Protein In Cumin Products”, which is directly related to this recall.
