Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Ice Cream is subject to this recall:

  • Rite Aid Mint ‘N Chip Thrifty Ice Cream, sold in 16-ounce pints containers by Rite Aid stores in California with an expiration date of October 28, 2015, lot number of 24273 (printed on the bottom of the pints) and a UPC code of 1182264327

According to the FDA, the recalled Ice Cream containers were filled with Pistachio Ice Cream containing pistachios; however, the Ice Cream was inadvertently placed in containers labeled as being Mint ‘n Chip Ice Cream, a product that ordinarily has no pistachio ingredients. People who are allergic to nuts, therefore, particularly pistachios, may run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
