Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Drain Cleaners are subject to this recall:

  • Select Drain Cleaner, sold in one (1) liter containers. The recalled Liquid Drain Cleaner is sold for use in a domestic environment to unblock drains. This product contains 190g/L of Sodium Hydroxide and is therefore, a Schedule 6 Poison and a Dangerous Good Class 8 Corrosive.

According to the ACCC, the Child Resistant Cap on the recalled Drain Cleaner may be faulty in contravention of the mandatory requirements for a Schedule 6 Poison and a Dangerous Good Class 8 Corrosive. If the bottle tips over or is dropped, the cap could fail and the corrosive contents could splash on the user or a by-stander, causing serious eye injuries or skin burns. In addition, young children may be able to open the bottle and consume its contents, which are poisonous.
