The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following EPIRBs are subject to this recall:

  • Standard Communications’ GME Accusat EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon), model MT400, MT401, MT403, MT403G, MT406G

The EPIRB is a radio beacon device that, when activated, sends a radio signal via satellite or homing frequency to notify of an emergency distress situation. According to the ACCC, due to a microprocessor malfunction, the recalled EPIRB may fail the self test procedure. If this occurs, the EPIRB may not operate in an emergency situation.
