Direct link: http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/SafetyInformation/SafetyAlertsforHumanMedicalProducts/ucm373404.htm

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Drugs are subject to this recall:

  • Acetaminophen Infant Suspension Liquid, 160 mg/5 mL, sold in 2-ounce and 4-ounce bottles with syringes in a box under store brand products including Babies R Us, Care One and others

According to the FDA, the recall is being initiated because of the remote potential that a small number of packages might contain an oral dosing syringe without dose markings. Using an oral syringe without dose markings can result in inaccurate dosing, especially in infants who could mistakenly get too high a dose.

Manhattan Group Quixel Baby Rattle Recall [Australia]

Australia ACCC RecallAustralia/Canberra: Kaleidoscope Australasia recalls some Manhattan Group Quixel Baby Rattles due to choking hazard. ACCC: http://ht.ly/quJ63

Direct link: http://www.recalls.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/1052792

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Baby Rattles are subject to this recall:

  • Plastic baby rattle with colourful arches, sliding beads, and elastic, item # 211110

According to the ACCC, the plastic arches can break near the ends, producing a small part that could present a choking hazard for infants and thereby breach the mandatory standard for toys for children up to and including 36 months of age, AS/NZS 8124.1:2002 (as amended by the regulation). If small-parts are liberated during use, it poses a potential choking hazard to young children.
