Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the following products are subject to this recall:

  • Superman Onesie Bodysuits, size: 0-3M; UPC: 68439334732
  • Superman Onesie Bodysuits, size: 3-6M; UPC: 68439334733
  • Superman Onesie Bodysuits, size: 6-12M; UPC: 68439334734
  • Superman Onesie Bodysuits, size: 12-18M; UPC: 68439334735
  • Superman Onesie Bodysuits, size: 18-24M; UPC: 68439334736

According to Health Canada, the recalled Superman Onesie Bodysuits do not meet the requirements under Canadian law related to small parts on a product for young children less than three years of age.

Laboratory testing has determined a part of the decal of the Onesie Bodysuits may peel and separate from the bodysuit, creating a rigid small part that can be swallowed by young children. This poses a choking hazard to these children.

Small objects in a child’s environment present choking, ingestion and inhalation hazards. Clothing used by a child younger than three years of age should never have small or separable hard components, or small parts that detach during reasonable and foreseeable use of the garment.

About Salmonella Poisoning in Animals:
Salmonellosis (Salmonella poisoning) is a very common type of food poisoning caused by the Salmonella bacterium. According to the US Food and Drug Administration, animals with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Some animals will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain.

It is important to note that infected but otherwise healthy looking animals can be Salmonellosis carriers and infect other animals or humans through various routes including oral-manual, oral-oral and oral-fecal. Always wash your hands thoroughly after feeding, petting or performing other activities with animals, especially those relating to waste elimination and disposal of fecal matter.

You can learn more about Salmonellosis from the US National Institutes of Health (“NIH”) by visiting: http://1.usa.gov/HI6RYS
