The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports over 80 product offerings within four main Dry Pet Food brands are affected by this recall. These include the following:

About Salmonella Poisoning in Animals:
According to the US Food and Drug Administration, animals with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Some animals will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. It is important to note that infected but otherwise healthy looking animals can be Salmonellosis carriers and infect other animals or humans through various routes including oral-manual, oral-oral and oral-fecal. Always wash your hands thoroughly after feeding, petting or performing other activities with animals, especially those relating to waste elimination and disposal of fecal matter.

The Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports this recall involves some Better Living Designs Green Apple Reed Diffuser Sets (UPC 10408907). The product name on the label is “Femme-flower”. The recalled product consists of several wooden sticks and a glass bottle filled with scented oil and decorated with a green plastic flower and a pink ribbon. HCSC says the product does not carry the mandatory warning labels as required by Canada’s Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001. The container lacks the symbol and warnings required for flammable and irritant products. According to the HCSC, this lack of labeling information, including appropriate warnings, may cause serious injury.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the recalled Mixed Soy Bean Paste (Sesame & Garlic) was distributed nationwide in retail stores and through online orders. The product itself comes in 500 gram (17.64 ounce), sage green-colored plastic packages marked with Sunchang Ssamjang (Sesame & Garlic Seasoned Bean Paste; 참깨마늘 양념쌈장) on the top and front of the package.

About Nut Allergies:
For some people, groundnuts and tree nuts are a source of dangerous, urgent and potentially deadly, allergic reactions requiring immediate medical intervention. Anaphylactic Shock could occur in consumers who are allergic to peanuts or other nuts within a very short time, potentially leading to severe injury and/or death.

If you suspect Anaphylactic Shock, call-9-1-1 or other local emergency number for immediate transport to a medical center. If trained and an emergency kit is available, it may be appropriate to give an injectable drug such as Epinephrine (also known as adrenaline or adrenalin) to the affected individual. Trade names of these products include EpiPen, Twinject, Adrenaclick, Anapen, Jext, Allerject and Auvi-Q. Please note: even patients who are apparently stabilized should still go to hospital for emergency evaluation. Further treatment is often necessary.
