About Listeria poisoning:
The bacteria that cause Listeriosis (Listeria poisoning) most often produce a gastrointestinal illness that can be quite serious or even fatal. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) reports the recalled products may be contaminated with a strain of Salmonella Typhimurium.

In young children, the elderly and people with compromised immune systems, Salmonellosis (Salmonella poisoning) may cause serious and sometimes deadly infections. In otherwise healthy people, Salmonellosis may cause high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. In rare cases, however, Salmonellosis can cause more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms) endocarditis and arthritis. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) reports the hazard was discovered when metal fragments were visually detected in the flour and pizza dough at a third-party crust production facility. The problem was then traced back to a defective metal mesh screen at a third-party flour mill.
